Certification for Sustainable, Naturally-Grown Agriculture Since 2004

Clean Green Certified is the number one certifier nation-wide for cannabis cultivated using organic practices. Legally, marijuana cannot be called organic — no matter how environmentally friendly the cultivation practices used to grow it — because the term is federally regulated and the USDA does not recognize cannabis as a legitimate agricultural crop. Clean Green Certified was created in 2004 as a way to regulate legal cannabis-products that called themselves "organic." Consumers can rest assured when they buy a Clean Green Certified cannabis product that it has met all of the requirements of the rigorous program.

Clean Green Certified farms and outlets care about their consumers

Clean Green cannabis farms and outlets have voluntarily gone through the most rigorous nationally recognized cannabis certification program today.  Clean Green cannabis is monitored for harmful residue.
Outlets are certified to have proper handling methods similar to those used in the standard agricultural and food processing industries.  Only a Clean Green Certified outlet is licensed to handle Clean Green products.

Clean Green Certified farms and outlets care about the planet

Sustainability is what being a Clean Green farmer or outlet is all about.
Cannabis cultivation has been on the radar lately for being particularly harmful for the environment.
Clean Green cannabis farmers do their part to change these perceptions and have a more positive impact. Program requirements include having a legal source of water, having runoff protection barriers to reduce harmful nitrogen-rich nutrient runoff into neighboring streams and creeks, and using natural pestide control methods.

Clean Green Certified is anchored in legal compliance.

In order to be part of the Clean Green Certification program, cannabis farmers and processor/handlers are compliant with their state requirements. Clean Green Certified can help both farmers and processing/handling facilities with their compliance matters. Currently we are able to provide legal services in the state of California. Any information that is given to us during the certification process is used solely for determining compliance with the Clean Green program.

Clean Green is the only nationally recognized third party cannabis certification program.

Clean Green Certified farms and outlets are currently present in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Colorado.  Interest has been expressed in Florida, New York, New Hampshire, Maryland, New Jersey, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Alaska, Michigan, Maine, Vermont, and Rhode Island.

The Clean Green Certified logo is making its way to other states where cannabis is recognized on a state level, both for adult-use and medically. It is therefore one of the easist ways for consumers to distinguish cannabis products that are sustainable and grown in an organic manner. In addition, Clean Green is present at various consumer outreach events to inform about Clean Green and the importance of clean cannabis.

Certification for Sustainable, Naturally-Grown Cannabis Since 2004

Clean Green Certified is the number one certifier nation-wide for cannabis cultivated using organic practices. Legally, marijuana cannot be called organic — no matter how environmentally friendly the cultivation practices used to grow it — because the term is federally regulated and the USDA does not recognize cannabis as a legitimate agricultural crop.  Clean Green Certified was created in 2004 as a way to regulate legal cannabis-products that called themselves "organic."  Consumers can rest assured when they buy a Clean Green cannabis product that it was tested and found free of synthetic pesticides, fungicides, moldicides. Modeled on national and international organic and sustainability standards, the Clean Green program requires on-site inspections and third-party lab testing.  Much like the USDA National Organic Program for traditional agricultural products, the whole life cycle of the plant is considered, from seed selection to harvesting and processing, as well as soil, nutrients, pesticide use, mold treatment and dust control. Clean Green Certified also goes further than the USDA organic in some areas, requiring every operator to undergo pesticide testing every year, rather than only a small percentage of farms. Clean Green companies also must put into place a carbon footprint reduction plan, water conservation measures and fair labor practices. Clean Green Certified has a certification specifically for cannabis processor/handlers.  Whether it be a store-front or a cannabis concentrate company, certification guarantees that the processor/handler keeps Clean Green cannabis separate from cannabis grown conventionally.  A consumer can be sure when buying cannabis from a Clean Green Certified outlet that the product is synthetic-pesticide free, salmon-safe and fair-trade.
